FOCUSED PLAY-BASED HEALING, WITHOUT THE WAIT
FOR KIDS 8+, TWEENS AND TEENS

New to EMDR?
Start here to see how it works and what it looks like for kids.
What Is an
EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR intensive is a package of sessions designed for focused and accelerated healing over a short period of time.
Instead of weekly sessions, intensives are uninterrupted for faster progress.
Fridays, Saturdays, long weekends and school breaks are a great time to schedule an intensive.
Does This Sound Like Your Child or Teen?
-
They went through one scary moment, like a car accident, a dog bite or a hospital visit, and haven’t felt like themselves since.
-
A fear has gotten way bigger than it should be.
-
They’re grieving a specific loss.
-
They have good coping skills, but one hard memory keeps getting in the way.
-
Weekly therapy just doesn’t fit your family’s schedule.
Why an Intensive?
In weekly therapy a lot can happen between sessions. New stressors can pull our focus away from the memory we set out to work on.
An intensive gives us longer sessions close together so we can do the deep work in days instead of months.

Packages to Fit Your Needs

Hi I'm Vanessa De Jesus Guzman, LPC, NCC
I'm a board certified licensed professional counselor, EMDR-trained therapist, and the owner of Free to Be Mindful in Ridgefield, NJ. Over the past 20 years, I've worked with thousands of children and families as a teacher, school counselor and now licensed kid therapist.
My approach blends EMDR with play, art, sand tray and games, because kids heal best when they feel safe (the snacks don't hurt either).
You may have seen me on the Today Show, Univision or in Parents Magazine, along with other national publications. I have also been voted one of New Jersey's Favorite Kids' Docs.
If you're wondering whether an EMDR intensive could help your child, a free consultation is the easiest place to start. There's never any pressure.
