Mindful Mamis = Happy Families
Monthly Support Groups
Amiga Moms Support Groups are an amazing way to receive guided support from a licensed counselor, while creating connections with other like minded mothers. It is a curated space to build community, in what can sometimes seem to be an isolating world, and to learn mindfulness strategies to help women become more patient and mindful mothers.
Sessions are held monthly. Each session runs for 60-90 minutes, and provides mothers the opportunity to build community, to have discussions centered around a specific theme important to 21st century mothers, and to engage in a guided meditation at the end of each gathering.
While the groups are facilitated by a licensed therapist, support groups are not the same as group therapy. Group therapy focuses on treating specific mental health issues through therapeutic goals. Support groups focus on providing support through similar lived experiences.
Amiga Moms hosts a variety of social events providing an outlet for busy mothers - prioritizing self-care and mindfulness education - to help women make connections with other Amiga Moms, and live lives with ease and peace in minds and hearts.
Amiga Moms prides itself in collaborating with entrepreneurs and organizations which also have a focus on educating, uplifting and empowering women. If you would like to collaborate with Amiga Moms, please contact email@example.com.
Why Amiga Moms?
Research published in the Journal of Child and Family Studies has found Latina mothers experience higher rates of parenting-related stress than white, non-Latina mothers. Consequently, additional supports and stress-relievers, such as understanding and implementing a mindfulness practice, are beneficial to reducing stress.
There is also research stated by the American Psychological Association that mindfulness has the following empirically supported benefits:
Boosts to working memory
Less emotional reactivity
More cognitive flexibility
Enhancement of self insight, morality and intuition
Amiga Moms will reap many benefits such as:
Networking and support from other 21st Century Latina mothers
Knowledge on mindfulness and its benefits
Practical mindfulness exercises to implement and practice
Hardworking mothers need Amiga Moms and deserve some time for themselves! After all, "Mindful Mamis = Happy Families."
